End of the School Year-Stress Relief

Hi to all my blog viewers! Today, could possibly be the last of my blog posts, considering that this is officially the last blog post I HAVE to write. However,kk during the course of this year, I have learned how to aprecciate writtin ghtese blog posts. I've found out that it is a fine way of expressing myself, and mainly, organizing ideas. It could be considered a "virtual public diary". Therefore, I will continue writting blog posts, however, with more or less frequency than usual. However, this is not my blog post today is about. Today, im gonna talk a little bit about the end of the school year. I think the end of a school year is always hectic, because techers are putting pressure on us to end projects, study for tests before the final exam, and giving us work. I think this could also be parcialy the fault of their directors who must put pressure on them to conclude the year handing out all the content they should give throughout the year. However, they want to go to vacation as much as we want to, and this pressure on both sides, eventually causes stress, disagreements, and even lack of confidence! Like Holden Caufield would say " It makes me feel depressed..." The only thing that hold us on, is the idea that in a short period of time, school will be over, and we will have nearly two months of vacation to do whatever we want, with only the obligations WE choose. I was thinking about it, and I came with some tactics to releive the stress of the end of a school year. First of all, take a deep breath. Second of all, consider the pro's and con's of acting the way you will choose to, and third, enjoy the moment. These things tend to relieve tense moments.
They are good times to talk things out. Another tactic, is to do whjat you like to, in my case, playing the guitar. Seriously: If i'm nervous one day, and your close to me, and a guitar is close to me, give it to me, and you will have me "pacified" in about 5 min! But it could be anything to different people. You have to do things you enjoy, like the name of my blog imply's. I think this blog has also worked as a stress relief, because it is a place where on top of the fact that I express my feelings about stuff, I remember memories, and good times, thinking about things I enjoy. So my final advice I give to relive the stress of any moment: Build a "things I enjoy" blog. Just remember, live life the fullest, enjoy the moments, and don't forget:EXPRESS THEM!

My Favorite blog post: Jaunts to the beach Category: Personal/reflective/inspirational

My father decided to go to the beach on thursay and come back on saturday, however, it rained so we went on friday. We went to a beach called Juquehy in the north coast of São Paulo. I was kind of tired, didn't have that CRAVING to go to the beach, however, I went. I woke up, made my bag, two shorts, and three T-shirts, thjree underwear, my keel, leash, wax(for the board), and my good and old havaianas. I put yellow in her case, and strapped her to the rack of the car. So we went. Didn't get any traffic, for we were going against most of the people, who were coming back from carnival. We got tjere at about mid day, left our bags at our rooms, my pop made some sandwiches while I ajusted the leash and the keel to my board( I was still kind of sleepy). I ate a sandwich, and we walked down to the beach. The moment I saw the surfing conditions, that whole loving surfing/beach sensation came back. I was awaken. I wakes my board, and went in. The sea was big, whith waves of about 1.5 meters with bigger waves when the series came in. Yellow nd I tried to pass the breaking waves, and foam, which was really hard, and we were pushed back nearly the whole way top the beach at one point. However, eventually we made it. There were about four or five people surfing, and I was there. While the waves came, I would only feel the fear of paddling into one, but not do anything. about half an hour later I went into one. the wave closed on top of me, and I was thrown into the bottom. When I came up again, I jumped on the board and paddled back. Now that I had already felt it, it was easier. Suddenly, a wave opening right next to me, a big one, came. Even though it opened to the left, I went in. At the rate I would speed down the wave, the wave would grow behind me. I heard the noise of the wave breaking right at my side, and I was still surfing. I surfed it, and close to the end, it got me. It was FANTASTIC! On the next day, waves were much smaller, and we took the camera to rake some pics. It was also really cool, though it didn't feel nearly as close as it felt while facing the big waves, and the adrenaline was much smaller. I surfed until my leash broke, and by that ime, it was close to the end of the day, so I took yellow back, gave her a "non salt water bath", and took her keel of, and put her into the sack. We hit the rode at 6, and got to São Paulo at eight. It was a perfect jaunt. I intend to do this again many times, for even though it is for a short period of time, it is something different, and really nice.
P.S: The fotos I put here are the first ones I am in, they are mine, and they were taken in the second day, when waves were much smaller than the first day.

Friday's

YO YO YO !!!

Wasup snowflakes?

So, today, I will talk about something I really enjoy ( it is strange I haven't mentioned it yet..). I love Friday's. And even thought the restaurant Friday's is very enjoyable, this is not the topic which will be analyzed today. Today, is Monday, usually thw worst day of the week(except on vacations, and small holiday's). It is a rainy Monday, and I am sitting right between Nicholas Wever, and Christian Semple, (two white friends of mine) in Spanish class. As Christian and I have finished our Spanish project, I am allowed to post a blog for y'all. So, the reasons I Love Friday's are that I can finish the day with the thought that I have no due homework for the next day( it is Saturday).
The other reason is that whatever I do with my friends, I do not have to worry about time, the next day will be Saturday, whih means that I will not have to bother in sleeping well, because there is no school on the next day. Another reason I so much enjoy Fridays, is that I can go out with y friends, or sleep at a friends house, and the next day of he week. There are many other reasons to why Friday is usually the best day of the week. However, whatever they are, we kbnow that when we think of Friday's we think of relaxation, a nice time, and a close weekened!

The Current Corinthians Situation

Corinthians encounters itself in an extremeley pressured situation. People have continuously made fun of the corinthians team for their lack of a Libertadores da america cup. It is obviously jealousy of the other club fans, which have less than 26 Paulistões, dont have a FIFA world teams cup, three copa's do Brasil, for campeonatos brasileiros, ad many other championships which make corinthais, the quality team it is. Another reason of jealosuy is the ammount of fans. In the whole Brazil, the only team which beats corinthians when it comes to fans is Flamengo. However, São Paulo teams continue to make fun of Corinthians because they don't have one title championshiop, which at least all the other three major São Paulo teams have: The Taça Libertadores da America. This year, Corinthians is completeing 100 years old, which makes it more crucial that they have a Libertadores. Teams have been discouraging fans, and players, for they want to have something that Corinthaisn dosn't have, so that they can make fun of us. Well, Corinthains was qualified for the Libertadores, passed the first phase, and is now in the thir round. Corinthians lost for Flamengo in the first game, in their home stadium, and now they arfe coming to our city, São Paulo. Corinthains has to beat Flamengo by two, so that they can qualify. It is a tense situation. We Corinthainos are cheering, and mentalizing the trophy in our hands. He can Do it.

Procrastination

What exactly is procrastination? In my personal opinion, procrastination, is the time we take of from ourselves when we know we are pressured to do something, and even knowing that, we try to forget it so that we can have a longer period of time without being pressured to work. However, the real definiton of procrastination, is when we leave every task we have to do, until the last second, while we could have done it a long time ago. While we should be performing small parts of the task during the time stipulated by the "tasker", we just "forget" about it, and leave it to the last instant. I am not really fond of procrastination...However, I am oftenly subjected to it, usually on a weekly basis. Procrastination is usually more usual in larger tasks, such as a math statistics project, a biology test, or even an ENGLISH RESEARCH PAPER! However, small things as tyding up your room, or cleaning the computer's hard drive could also be motives to procrastination. The advantages of procrastination, are that you have more free time, because you will be taking all the time you would be performing the small parts of the task, to do what you want, and at the end, you would have to catch up all in a shorter ammount of time.
However, there are more disadvantages to procrastinating, such as: The short period of time one is using to do a long period task, could be a risly thing for a good grade. There is also the large ammount of work on one's back, when it comes very closeley to the due date. And finally, in my opinion one of the worst, the feeling of having to perform loads of work in a small period of time is frustrating. Sometimes, people tend to procrastinate, and sometimes there is no wrong in it. However, if done too often, one could end up with serious problems. So be careful: Before you procrastinate, weigh the consequences, and see if the task being procrastinated can be performed in the short ammount of time, or if you are only going to freak out. Sometimes, it is best to do small portions, rather then FREAK OUT IN THE LAST MINUTE!

Hachi

Today, I watched the movie Hachi. It is about a boy who is telling a story to his class, about his most inspirational character, and it turns out to be his grandfathers dog. Many people laugh at him in the classroom, but he goes on with the story. The story about a man in his mid sixties, who comes back from a trip by train, and on the train station, he find's a puppy who is lost. He takes the puppy in, and finally convinces his wife to keep the dog. THe dog is an Akita dog, and even though this do breed has the characteristic of not being human friendly, Hachi, which is his name, end's up being extremeley close to the owner. The story occurs in the 30's, and it is impressive how it can be such a long time ago, and still be a perfectly modern day story. Anway, the dog get's so close to the owner, that hw follows his master to the train station, where he leaves to work, and goes back home. At the end of the day, Hachi would come back to the train station at the exact moment his owner came back, and take him home. Both of them build an impressive connection. However, one day, while he is giving his classes, the man suffers from a heart attack, and dies.

The dog however, continues going to the same train station, and waiting for his owner, even though he never came back. Even though Hachi was adopted by the former owner's daughter, he ran away, and would go at noon every day to the train station, and wait for his owner. He did that for ten years, and died doing that one day at night, when he was tweleve. It is a very touching story. It is very beautiful, but at the same time very sad. It was the only movie in my entire life, that tears came down my cheeks. I do not know if it is because of my living between pets, and animals, or because it is just so sad. I really liked the movie though. I recommend it to people, however, recommend them to hold a kleenex box by their side, for even me, who had never cried in any movie throughout my whole life, cried in this one.

Richard Bach

I really enjoy reading books from the author Richard Bach. I have read about seven pr eight different books he wrote, several times, and continue finding each and everyone of the one I read fascinating. What probably makes me so fond of his books are one of the things we have in common, which is airplanes. Most of the times. Bach's books are about airplanes or at least include airplanes. One of my favorite books that hw wrote is Ilusions, which talks about a reluctant man who is learning how to be a messiah.
He discovers his master while he is flying with his biplane lokking for farms to land on, and sell flights for a living. It is a very good philosophical book. Another one of my favorites is Nothing by Chance. In this specific novel, Bach talks about three people which are known as the trio of the Flying American Circus.
They consist in two pilots, a bibplane, a monoplane, and a parachuter. The story is about these people who can't bare with modern society anymore, and just try to make a living by selling flights for three dollars (this was in about 1960), and move from onw city to the next trying to find for a place to land. It is an excellent book, and it details a lot how it must be to have such a life. Something i really like about Bach's writting, is that it is not totally fictional. Somwtimes it can even be considered based on real stories, as is the case of nothing by chance. I really recommend Bach's literature, mainly these two mentioned novels.

Corinthians vs São Paulo: One More Glorious Moment

Today, Corinthians beat São Paulo 4-3. It was a hard game, for both teams played well, and worked very hard, however every one knows that the best prevails. The game took place in the Pacaembu Stadium. The São Paulo team, thought they would beat corinthains, so that they could finish with the "tabu" shich has haunted them since Febuary 11, 2007. Since this date, São Paulo has not won from the inglorious Corithians team. The first half of the game was well played and judged, with goals from Elias (18 min.), Danilo, who by the way is a lefty, and was able to put the ball beautifully with his right foot (33), and Jean(42 min.) In the second half, Roberto Carlos was the first one to score his goal with his super powerfull left foot shot. (seven min.) Rodrigo Souto, form the São Paulo team scored two goals which by the way if he hadn't scored, he would have probably been fired by the São Paulo coach right after the game ended. It was a bad catch by Rafael, the third benchman from the Coritnhians team. (29, 37 min.) Finally, with the score evened, Iarley, who substituted Ronaldo at the end of the game, kicked a beautiful shot, which the defense man Alex Silva, from the São Paulo team, tried to detour, which however, was directed to the goal (48 min.).
Obviously if someone asks a "São Paulino", if the judge could have "misjudged" some things for the São Paulo team's benefit, they woudl say the person is crazy, however, I think the judge tried to give the São Paulo team a hand. There were many occurenecs which could have been considered a "misjudgment" from the ref , however, some of the main were when Dentinho, a Corinthians player was held and slaped by Washington, a São Paulo player after dribbling him. He obviously got mad at being held, slapped, and thrown on the ground, which madde him defend himself. However, the ref expelled both of them, and said the causer of the incidence was Dentinho. Another two times, a penalty kick could have been awarded to the Corinthians team, however, the ref supossedly "didn't see"...Anyhow, Corithians won, scoring 4 goals, and São Paulo saw that Corinthians still has the same consistency as three years ago.
respec holimies,
peace out

T.V show of the week: 15 minutos

As always, I will be presenting about TV show of the week. This time, the prize went to MArcelo Adnet. Adnet is a brazilian comedian, who is a specialist in immitating people, and casual things casual people have to go through. For example, the whole airplane procedure. Adnet criticizes in a very hilarious manner. He is the host of a tv show called 15 minutos, a show that has a duration of fifteen minutes (from 9:45pm-10:00pm). In this tv show, people send him emails, and he talks about what the person wants to talk, and obviously goes to a main topic, based on what the people are sending him emails about. Usually, he mentions (or to better say:criticizes) casual politics, or world casualitys. He used to have a partner quiabo, which has dissapeared from the program, I don't know why. However, he has a new partner now. The partner plays musics on the guitar, while Adnet improvises lyrics, on the discussed topic. Marcelo Adnet's program 15 minutos is known to be a program in which the host says what he wants to say, and I think this is one of the greatest features of the program. Even though he hosts a television program, Adnet is known to love theater, and stand up comedies. No wonder he is such a good stand up comedian. I hope to one day watch a stand up comedy show with him in São Paulo.

AAS-American Airlines Suc

My Aunt just came in from Texas this Friday. As every year, she had asked me If I wanted anything from the U.S.A. I usually ask for some sneakers, as she lives right next to the Nike factory. However, this year, I wanted something specific. I wanted an xbox. Four of the main reasons I wanted an xbox, were that:
One: I Likeplaying videogames, though my comupter is not in a good shape for them ,and i would have to invest quite a lot, nearly the price of an xbox, to make it apt to be "gamewise".
Second reason, was that all my friends have videogames, and they are always talking about them , while I feel the need to play the game, and can't experience what they say, because I don't have one.
Thirdly, the only videogame I ever had was 1998 Play Station 1, which now a days, dosn't work anymore, and one has to try hard to find any selling games.
And finally, the price of an xbox in the U.S, is much cheaper , then the one in Brazil. For you to have an Idea, the difference is of nearly 700 reais, which is really big.

So there I was, about one month ago, sending an email to my qunt, kindly requesting for an xobox. As she is so kind, she said it would be alright, even though it is quite a big size. Thursday, she travelled, and Friday in the afternoon, she would bne here. At the afternoon, I went to talk to my mother, and she told me thatall my aunt's bags had come, except for the one the xbox was inside. I got really depressed. Later that day, I talked to my aunt, and she told me that all the bags had gotten here except thje one with the xob, perfumes(which my cousin had ordered), etc. She was really sad also. However, as she is a traveler, she was familiar with all the procedures to take with a lost bag.
Today, she called, and told me the bag was found on the way to Miami. It will bhe here tomorrow in the morning. I am hoping the bag will come intact, with the xbox box, and it's game inside. It would be a shame if only the box came (my friend Martin's case). I did some research, and found out that the people who take those bags out of the plane and put them on the car that takes them to the airport, are working in a new system. It is a tercerized system, which means they are hired nby the airport to do that. I also discovered they scan the bags there before the bags enter the airport's vicinity,. I don't want to accuse anyone, but if the xbox xbox box comes without the videogame inside, the most possible place it dissapeared is in the airport. I read many forums , and this happened to many people, which used American Airlines. Ther eis even a musician, which got his guitar broken by the united airlines, and made a music which got them publicly embarassed and sewed.

Well, we will se tomorrow what will happened, and while the bag dosn't come, we hope the xbox will be inside. I think I maybe will elaborate a song like Dave carrol did, however, about American Airliones.

Televison Shows-The Office

I love t.v shows, I mean, who dosn't. It is very hard to see a person who dosn't aprecciate at least ONE television show. My favorite at the moment is The Office. The Office, is a T.V show that talks abou a casual day at the office. However, which day IS really casual? Every day is a different day; therefore, the setting usually is the same( inside an office), but it includes things that normally happened at an office. Michael Scott, is an egocentric man, which thinks he is hilarious with his unhilarious jokes, and is the Manager of Dunder Mifflin, a paper company. He and the office workers are hilarious, for each one holds a characteristic, that can bve real, so it is really funny. Now, what makes the office funny, are the cameras, which film as if they were at the moment there, like if it were a reality show, and this is their objective, to make it be like a reality show. The things that happened at the office, like secret crushes, the prejudism, the irony, are also what make the office such a good television show. What is also very nice about The Office, is that it has already 6 seasons, and the number of episodes continue to go up, as the quatity of the seasons increase. I recommend this show to all people who like, and can understand comedy. I will be posting weekly television shows.

The Catcher and the Rye

In English class, we have begun reading the book The Catcher and the Rye. In the begining it was not so good, however, it starts getting better. The story, is of this 16 yeard old kid, Holden Caufield, which is expelled for bout the third time from a boarding school. He gets the news before his parents, and before he recieves the word to get out. So he thinks it is better if he just goes away. It would not make a difference anyhow. So on a Saturday night, after getting into a fight, he decides to make a run for it. He packs his bag and goes. In New York, he decides to get a cheap motel, where he plans to spend the last four or five days before his parents have had the notice of his expulsion, when he can go back to his household with his overnerved mother, and father. Holden is a very depresses boy, and sometimes one might think overdepressed. However, as the book progresses, it is clear why he is like that, for example his dead brother, and as mentioned before lunatic parents. The only people who he has a healthy relashionship, are with his siblings(brother and sister) although he considers his brother more of a cool dude that was ruined by by Hollywood (he is an author). At the present moment, he is at the hotel, and has just faked dying, after only taking a beating from the hotel"s janitor (he has very awkward actions). I think this book is going to be good, and it got really better since I began, so much that I've already read five chapters ahead ( I hope Mrs.Feitosa dosn't care...).

Scuba Diving

I've been looking through my blog, and it made me laugh that there exists a pattern of posts, which I disn't think would happened. My last posts have been all about the beach, or better, about summer. It is funny how the enviorment affects our thinking as well. Anyhow, as it is still summer, I will talk abou one of the things I most enjoy: scuba diving. My father has always liked scuba diving too, which may have been one of the reasons I like it soo much, however, I enjoy scuba diving so much also because as I said in the last post, I love the sea, and compared to other natural enviroments we have in our planet, the sea is one of the most unexplored.

The first time I went diving, was in a beach called Toque Toque Pequeno, aobut three ours from São Paulo. It was really cool, and we saw many different things, like a turtle and a snake. Then , after diving going there about three times, we went to Natal, in the North part of Brazil, and dived in a place called Maracajaú, which in my opinion, is the best place to scuba. It was the first time I dived with the oxygen tank, and it was a hell of an experience. We saw many cool fishes, and animals.

After that, I went to Fernando de Noronha, which is also an extremeley good place to dive, and I dived at about 12 meters under the ocean's surface. In this majestic arquipelago, I saw barracudas, turtles, and even a small octopus. This year, as I mentioned in the last post, I went again to the North Coast, and again to Maracajaú. Even though it was again, very cool, I got sad to see how the turism has affected the scuba diving in a bad manner. The previous time before this last one, when I went there, we would get a boat, which would drive us about fourteen Km away from the coast, and there would be one platform, so that we could have a place to rest. This time, there are many boats, including a gigantic one, which takes us to the same place, and where there are about 7 platforms. After diving, I began talking to a local guide, and I asked him, why had all those beautful fauna and flora dissapeared. He told me that it is because there are too many people there with sunblock, and too many boats, which scare them away. It is natural that people be attracted to beautiful places like that, however, what made me sad was that of those many people that go there, a small ammount of people are there for the real purpose of diving. Most are there to jump in the water, go back to the bboat, and keep drinking beer. I mean, give me a break. If one wants to enjoy themseleves like that, be my guest, but do It some place where it will not affect the enjoyment of other people, like me, whoms purpose is to SCUBA!!!

Anyhow, I recomend the sport to anyone who really likes the sea, and natural habitats. When I scuba, it seems I have been transported to another world, as it is so quiet, (when no boats are zooming over the sea... )

The Beach.

I really enjoy the beach. I mean, who dosn't? Everything in a beach, which is natural or like Marty from Madagascar would say,"from the wild" is simply perfect.
First of all, there is the sand. Sand, such a boring name for such a beautiful thing. People often go to the beach, and touch the sand and all, but really don't pay attention to what they are holding. They are holding grains billions of years old, which was washed by the sea to the shore. Each one of those grains has a meaningfull history. They "saw" everything happened! To add to that, it is very good to get a hand of sand, and just fell it.

Sencond, there is the scenario of the beach. This, is also one of the greatest and most influencial parts of the beach. Recenteley, I went on vacation to the northern part of Brazil. It was just massiveley beautiful. There, I was able to look at beaches that were deserted, with not an alive soul through the beach, and these were kilometers long... TO add to the white sand, and nobody on the beach, gigantic palm trees would sway with a loud swishing sound, caused by the very hard wind. This place, was São Miguel do Gostoso. It is a small town, which has numerous beautifull beaches. This part of the coast is already far north, which means the coast is not paralell to the african continent anymore. It's face is mostly directed to places like the Caribean Islands. The people in São Miguel do Gostoso are very polite, and helpfull, unlike mostly unknown people in places like São Paulo. In that area, it is rare for one to go to a beach, and not find at least one fisherman's boat, or "jangada". A little down south, one will find beaches which are located down of these MASSIVE cliffs. Another beautiful scenario. It really depends which taste the person has for beaches. It could be a deserted beach with boats, and no people, while it could also be a beach full of people, and loud music being played (which I dread).

Finally, the last thing that makes beaches what they are, and to me is one of the most important parts of a beach, is the sea. To me, the sea is magical. It is together with the sand, the history of our planet. Imagine how many boats already passed throgh the sea, or how many sea creatures live in the bottom of the ocean, which we have no idea! One of the main motives of why I enjoy the sea so much, is because it is so unexplored. The sea gives us also many cool things to do like surfing, sailing, scuba diving, kayaking, and even food. Like I mentioned before, the sea is magical.
These are three of the main things which make the beach perfect. There are many things to add to that, and I am sure that anyone can think of at least one. Even Mr. Bean likes the beach! It is his source of inspiration in his last movie, when he goes on vacation. It is very rare to find someone who hasn't at least had one good enjoyable time at the beach.
